Our Review of the Combi Connection LX infant car seat
Combi is a household name in Japan--and across the globe--with years of experience in the car seat industry. The Combi Connection LX is the elite car seat model in Combi's strong line of infant safety seats -- with a complete list of comfort and safety features, plus a great look and light carrier.
The Connection LX is a LATCH-equipped rear facing infant car seat that will secure a baby up to 22 pounds and 29 inches. Like any good infant car seat carrier, the Combi Connection LX allows you to travel from home to car to stroller without disturbing your little one.
Lightweight and portable, the Connection LX has a full range of safety featrues that incorporate multiple types of energy absorbing foam, including EPS, Egg Shock foam, and comfort foam around the head. Other highlights include:
- Infant 'body pillow' cushioning and comfort-padded harness
- Adjustable sun canopy for shade
- A removable, machine washable seat cover
- Additional bases available separately for multi-car families
- New Colors for 2007
Travelers and frequent taxi-riders will appreciate one handy feature of the Connection: you don't actually need the base to use the seat. In a pinch, you can use it without any base at all, securing the seat with the car's seat belt.
Also note that the Combi Connection is compatible with all strollers and travel systems in Combi's City Life Series, including the lightweight Combi Flash EX and the new Combi Counterpart 2 ST Tandem double stroller.
Anytime you see a Combi stroller with "LX" in the name, it indicates that the fabrics and colors match perfectly with those offered by the Connection LX carseat. So, for total fashion and function compatibility between your Combi carseat and stroller, check out the City Savvy LX, Spoleto LX, or two passenger Twin Savvy LX.
For a slightly lower price, the Combi Centre DX is very comparable to the Connection LX. The Centre's LATCH system has lower connectors for an easier install. However, the Centre DX is also heavier by nearly two pounds. That might not sound like a lot, but when you've got to transport a car seat frequently, every pound makes a difference.
