based on 5 reviewsEddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat Description
With a 100 lb maximum weight capacity, the Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat protects your child from infancy through booster-seat age. The 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat from Eddie Bauer is truly unique because most combination seats are only forward facing harness seats that turn into a booster – the 3-in-1 works as a rear-facing infant seat, too!
BENEFITS FOR MOM & DAD
A do-it-all safety seat, the Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 offers a long life-span, making this car seat an excellent value. The seat’s comparatively slim profile accommodates small back seats, and the attractive styling won’t overwhelm your sensibilities. Please note the 40 lb harness weight capacity, which falls at the low-end of the scale and may require a faster-growing child to convert to a booster before best practices indicate they are ready.
Installation: Install the Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 convertible car seat rear facing from infancy to 30 lbs, as a forward facing harness seat 22 – 40 lbs, and as a belt-positioning booster 40 – 100 lbs. The seat has a removable base as well as a one-hand recline adjust for proper rear-facing positioning. Installing the 3-in-1 requires a thorough read of the instruction manual. In some positions, the base must be removed, requiring a screwdriver and plenty of time.
Convenience: You can’t beat the convenience and value of owning an all-in-one car seat. Moreover, the soft seat pad removes for easy cleaning. The armrests pivots for easy in-and-out of a tired child, and the small seat size won’t overwhelm your back seat.
BENEFITS FOR JACK AND JILL
Soft fabrics and cushy padding keep your little one happy. As mentioned above, the relatively low front-facing harness capacity (40 lbs) may mean some children outgrow the 5-point harness too quickly for best safety practices.
Comfort: Children sit comfortably and happily thanks to cushy padding. The adjustable head rest accommodates any preference, while the infant head support protects the littlest passengers. Pivoting armrests give your kid a place to rest their arms, and because they lift, getting in and out is super easy.
Safety:
- 5-point harness
- Meets or exceeds FMVSS 213
Comparisons: For a front-facing harness seat with a higher weight capacity, check out the Britax Frontier Toddler Car Seat, which accommodates children up to 80 lbs in the 5-point harness and up to 100 lbs when used as a belt-positioning booster.

My husband and I purchased this seat for our son. He fits comfortably and he loves it. I get tons of complaments on it.
Comfortable but straps annoying

My son likes the seat and the weight/size range is great cos he’s a big boy! The straps are a pain. If you carefully set them to either side then take your child out they don’t twist. But my husband doesn’t have the patience to do that and they always end up in a mess that I have to untangle. EB really has to do something to fix this.
Nice seat

I have 2 of these seats. I haven’t had a problem with the straps. The cover does take a little time to come off and put on, but with a two year old I’m very glad it is washable. The up front strap adjustments are very handy, and easy to use. Over all this is a nice seat in appearance and quality.
Great Seat Overall!

This is a great convertible seat because it accomadates such a broad weight limit. I have a 3 year old who weighs 36 lbs and I’m not sure that it will accomadate her much past 45 lbs. The cover does come off in order to wash it, but I had a really hard time getting it on and off. Overall, very nice seat. I like the option to LATCH or seatbelt. I drive a Tahoe and I find it difficult to access the 3rd row when children are buckled in the seat. I was thinking about getting a booster because she meets weight and height requirements but thanks to your site I feel she needs to stay with a 5 point harness for as long as possible. May try the Britax Regent when she outgrows this seat! BTW I don’t often find that the straps tangle and twist but my husband has a heck of a time with them.
Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1 is a dream

This car seat is so great, and I highly recommend it. It starts out as a rear-facing infant seat that is adjustable to fit the smallest baby. There’s so much room in this seat, and even with the infant insert, there’s room for a heavy snowsuit. The straps don’t have to be pulled over the baby’s head, because they go on from the sides of the seat. The straps on mine have only been slightly tangled once or twice, but for the most part, they are simple to connect.
When my son turned a year and was 20lbs, the seat was just turned around to forward-facing. I like that you can either attach it to the latch system, or just use the seatbelt. So if you have an older car, you can easily strap the seat in too.
There are also adjustable headrest, arm rest and recline setting. You can use this seat with or without the detachable base if your seat is narrow.
It also comes with a cup holder that is detachable, so your child can have a sippy cup when he is older. I love that the cover comes off completely, so if it gets dirty, you can just throw it in the washer and dryer.
The best thing about this seat is that from birth to 100lbs, you never need another seat.
