BENEFITS FOR MOM AND DAD
The original Chicco KeyFit was among the Top Rated infant car seats in a recent Consumer Reports study, and remains one of the most popular infant seats on the market. It is easy to use, light, and comes with convenient features that will protect both your baby and your car’s seats. The new KeyFit 30 is an enhancement on a proven design, made of the best materials, ensuring that your baby will stay safer for longer.
The old term “more bang for your buck” certainly applies when it comes to the safe, convenient and comfortable KeyFit 30.
Installation
The Chicco KeyFit 30 installs rear facing only, with either LATCH or your vehicle’s seat belts. The base of the KeyFit 30 features a one of a kind 1-pull LATCH tightening system that simplifies the entire installation process and ensures a tight fit with every installation. The base of the KeyFit is equipped with a level indicator that clearly displays the proper angle of your car seat. If the angle is a little off, simply adjust the KeyFit 30′s foot prop to get the optimum angle.
The carrier of the KeyFit 30 may also be installed without the seat base by using your vehicle safety belts.
Convenience
Like most infant car seats, the KeyFit 30 features a light, detachable carrier and a weighted base. Extra KeyFit 30 bases are available if you have multiple vehicles, and they really are a huge time saver. The one-hand LATCH tightening system of the KeyFit 30 is a real plus because it speeds up installation time and gives you a great fit for the base. In addition, the KeyFit 30 is wrapped in removable, washable fabrics that are simple to clean and care for.
BENEFITS FOR JACK OR JILL
Comfort is key with Chicco (which is pronounced “Key-ko”, btw). The new KeyFit 30 features the same deluxe fabrics as the original KeyFit, thick padding and all. The included infant insert fills in the gaps for newborns and infants, providing them with extra comfort while leaving the seat room to grow. And don’t forget, the KeyFit 30 is rear facing to 30 lbs, so you can keep your young one in the safest position possible (rear facing) well past the limits of the average infant car seat.
Comfort
Didn’t we already discuss how comfortable this car seat is? To reiterate: the well-padded seat of the KeyFit 30 is wrapped in soft and comfortable fabrics, and equipped with shoulder pads and a 5-point harness that adjusts easily to get the perfect fit. The harness adjusts with just a single pull, and the infant insert pillow may stay in place until your child reaches 10-11 lbs.
Safety
- The Chicco KeyFit 30 is fully FMVSS 213 Certified
The KeyFit 30 is also one of the safer infant seats on the market, thanks to the extended harness weight capacity. The seat is lined with impact absorbing EPS foam, and tested amongst the very best in a recent Consumer Reports study. This truly is one of the best, safest car seats available today, in part because it is extra easy to install correctly each and every time. Chicco spared no expense in designing a top-quality, user friendly infant car seat.
COMPARISONS
The closest competitor to the Chicco KeyFit 30 would be the Graco Snugride 32. The Snugride 32 offers higher weight limits (32 lbs/32″) and claims to fit 97% of 1 year olds. The Chiccco KeyFit 30 offers a larger sun canopy than that available on the Snugride 32.

LOVE this car seat!
5 stars

I love every aspect of this seat. It is so easy to install and my son always looks so comfortable in it. It cradled him as well at 5lbs as it seems to now at 17lbs (he is 5 months old). I opted for the keyfit 30 not because I thought he would need the added weight limit but because I preferred the color options. The seat does not fit in the top of shopping carts (which isn’t safe or recommended for ANY seat) but I wear my son when I go to the store anyway so that isn’t an issue for me. Several people have made mention of the seat not fitting in slings or highchairs at restaurants but I have yet to experience that problem anywhere I have been. I have never had any problems with him overheating either. I love how easily it transfers from the stroller to the base and that it is easy to strap in to the car without a base as well. I absolutely recommend this seat to anyone!
Have Been Very Happy With This!

Our son is just outgrowing this carseat at 14 months! It’s his height, not his weight that has made him outgrow. We have been very happy with it. True – bigger & more bulky than some other infant carriers – but we have appreciated the longer use and the peace of mind that his carseat is top-rated for safety!

My daughter needed 3 bases. Having to make another big investment in car seats after just 7 months just hits me as far too early to have to do. We considered the 30 lbs never thinking the 30″ would come so soon. An adjustable or higher back would still work as designed [carrier rests in seat and stroller], still be safe for infants [too small to use], and probably would have bought us the few extra months I thought would make this a smarter investment / design. Had we known this WE NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THIS OR ANY SYSTEM, let alone the 2 extra bases [ANOTHER $150]. This experience told me “the system” isn’t “the greatest”. P.S. Her baby sweats like crazy in this seat.

I honestly don’t like this carseat. My daughter was born at 8lbs 11oz and although it is safe and easy to install. She doesn’t look comfortable and gets extremely sweaty after being in the seat even if its only for about 10 minutes. It also doesn’t fit into carts or into high chairs. Which is horrible when we go to the grocery store because I am a single mom. I need suggestions for her next seat. She is now 25 inches and 14 lbs. She’s almost 5 months old

I am 100% satisfied. One thing to keep in mind is that though the weight limit is 30 lbs, you need to stop using this seat when your child’s head is less than 1″ from the top. My son is 15 months and approx 25lbs, but he has reached the max length. That’s the only reason we are retiring it. I just re-read the manual and realized that it can be used WITHOUT the base. I’m sure it’s safer with the weighted base, but that could come in handy in a pinch if you don’t have bases for every car, or grandma’s car. After 15 months of use, I wouldn’t even consider another infant seat for our next baby. The stroller that comes with the travel system is too heavy and bulky though. Just get a Snap-and-Go for early on, then a lighter stroller for later if you are like me and like to travel light.
This is the PERFECT infant car seat

I purchased my Chicco Key fit 30 8 months ago for my son and it has been perfect. IT fits also into my Jeep All Terrain stroller with no problems. I am happy to know that my son will be rear facing until 30 pounds and 30 inches. I use the base in my Tahoe and I love the level indicator that lets me know he is at the right angle. The five point harness is so easy to loosen and tighten – I never have to fight to get his arms in and out. I wish the canopy went out a bit farther, but other than that it is great! Note, there is a plastic piece attached to canopy that folds under and you can fold it out to add an additional inch or two of sun protection. Overall, I have no real complaints and after the amount of research I did to find the safest removeable car seat, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase! Worth every penny!

I really like my Chicco Trevi Key Fit 30 travel system, which includes the Chicco Key Fit 30 infant car seat. My whole family has bases in their cars so anyone can help transport my son around. There are some issues I thought customers may want to know: a) the seat doesn’t fit in the universal strollers (the Trevi stroller is bulky) b) doesn’t fit in most restaurant slings or on high chairs c) is heavy d) hot-my son sweats in it in the winter and e)my son is 4 months and 27 inches long so he almost doesn’t fit in it anymore and he’s not even sitting up on his own yet.
Perfect!

I love this carseat. I’d like to point out that your child will outgrow ALL carseats by height rather than weight. I wish they would tout this on the box “good till 30 inches” instead of 30 pounds. Too many people don’t notice this and use their infant seat long after their child has outgrown it. My daughter is now 6 months and we haven’t had any issues with her overheating in it. It is easy to use and really wonderful to switch back and forth between our cars with the second base. We have even managed to fit 3 different seats in the back of our neon, so I’m impressed. Yes, it is awful to lug around. If I had the money, I would have bought one of those strollers to fit it in. It does seem quite comfy and our daughter is able to be rocked to sleep sometimes when we put it in the shopping cart. It doesn’t fit on top of the cart’s seat, but that is probably just as well, since I’m sure that would make it top heavy and accident prone.
Safest Infant Car Seat PERIOD!

I have used this car seat for about 6 months now and LOVE IT! My son is huge for his age (23lbs and 30inches at 6mo.)so we have had to get a convertible seat for him. I would recommend this seat to anyone! It is a bit pricey but I would rather spend a little more on a seat like this than get a cheap one that is much harder to install. I chose this car seat because I knew no matter who was using it for my son it would be easy to install and used the correct way! 80% of car seats are rendered less effective because of operator error! That made this seat for me a no-brainer!
Great Infant seat

We purchased this car seat based on reviews, Consumer Reports and friends’ recommendations. We LOVE this car seat. Our daughter is now 12 months old and 24 lbs, but reached the max height limit, so we just switched her to a Graco Nautilus this month. PROS – It’s easy to use with the base or without; easy to install; you can buy another base for 2nd vehicle; the harness loosens and tightens with ease; the infant inserts work great; pretty easy to wash and stains come out of fabric well; my daughter was able to stay rear-facing as long as possible, better for safety and my budget (since I bought a forward-facing seat next, not a bulkier, more expensive convertible.) CONS – The seat is heavier than regular one; it makes a tight fit on some cars and airplanes due to it’s slightly larger frame; our child outgrew it due to height, not weight by one year old; My only consolation is that my daughter really loved being able to sit forward when she turned 1, so switching made sense to us. Overall I really enjoyed this seat and would recommend it to my friends and family.

I have been using my Chicco KeyFit 30 for over 8 months now. It’s a fantastic car seat!
The pros: clicks into the base with zero effort, fabric is very washable, goes up to 30 lbs. so I am getting a lot of use out of it, nice and cushy for baby, nice looking
The con: the fabric isn’t very breathable.
My daughter is about 18 lbs. right now and it’s getting very difficult to carry her around in it. However, I plan to continue to use the seat for safety reasons – I will just start taking her in and out of it in the car once spring arrives. I am really glad that we chose this seat over the many other infant seats that only go up to 22 lbs. With all the money that we have spent on baby gear, it’s nice to buy something that will actually be used for awhile!
Great Buy

I’ve been using this for 5 months now. So glad we splurged on this infant seat with our daughter. All my other mom friends are so jealous and call it the super car seat. It is! So easy to adjust the straps with the front push button and it’s a lot lighter than any other carrier around. She also goes to grandma’s house and it’s simple to strap into a car without the base. We bought a second base for my husband for daycare transport, but we really didn’t need to. Save the $ and just strap in with the seat belt.
Feel Secure with the Chicco Key Fit 30

As new parents we felt very secure bringing home baby in this carseat. She was very snug in the infant insert (needs to be removed when baby reaches 11 lbs per manual) and still looks comfortable today at 7 months old. The fabric does make her warm, but I’ve talked to other parents and their non-Chicco seats also make their babies warm too.
If you have the trunk space or storage space at home, a matching Cortina stroller has all the bells and whistles, but beware the fold is very bulky. The Key Fit also fits in a Snap n Go, a great alternative for those still wading through the gazillion stroller choices out there.
great seat won’t last until 30 pounds

my son is almost 6 months old and he has already grown out of this seat. He’s about 17 pounds. I thought getting this carseat I would be able to use it until he was a year old. There’s no way he could fit in it at 30 pounds. He looks too uncomfortable in it. We went out and bought him the Britax Marathon. He is alot more comfortable in his new carseat.
