Britax Chaperone Infant Car Seat Description
P>Get Britax innovation in an infant car seat with the Britax Chaperone Infant Car Seat. The Chaperone takes the place of the popular Britax Companion infant seat and adds great new features like a no-rethread harness, higher height and weight limits, and great adjustability. Britax designed the Chaperone with an ergonomic handle to make holding the infant carrier easier. Though as baby approaches 30 lbs, carrying the car seat becomes more of an effort no matter how ergonomic the carry handle. At that point, simply leave the car seat locked into the base and know that baby is safest rear-facing.
Installation: The Britax Chaperone has a stay-in-car base that allows you to easily remove the carrier from the car without waking baby.
The Chaperone may be installed either with or without the Britax Chaperone Car Seat Base; however, using the base makes achieving the proper rear-facing angle a whole lot easier. The base includes an integrated belt lock-off for easy belt installation
Install the car seat using either your vehicle’s seat belts or the car seat’s LATCH connectors. Push-button lower LATCH connectors provide a quick, simple, and tight installation.
A recline adjustment knob on the base helps places the seat at the proper angle while a level indicator on the Chaperone car seat tells you when the car seat is at the correct angle.
Compatibility: Along with being compatible with the Britax Chaperone stroller, the Britax Chaperone infant car seat includes an accessory strap for use with the following strollers:
- Graco Quattro Tour
- Peg Perego Pliko P3
- Chicco Cortina
- Maclaren Techno XLR (when used with the infant carrier adapter frame and strap supplied by Maclaren)
- Baby Trend Snap-N-Go (when used with the adapter strap supplied by Baby Trend)
Benefits for Baby: With a 30 lb/32″ limit, baby stays rear-facing through most of their first year.
For baby’s comfort, the Chaperone includes an extra large canopy to keep harmful UV rays from baby’s sensitive skin.
With safety in mind, Britax delivers an anti-rebound bar to stabilize the seat during front and rear collisions. You also get True Side Impact Protection. The tangle free, 5-point harness with seven harness heights and two crotch positions provides a level of personalization unavailable on other infant car seats. The no-rethread harness means all you need do is slide the harness to the correct position using the handle on the back of the seat.

I did a LOT of research when it came to choosing this car seat. My number one specification was safety. And really- what’s safer than this Britax Chaperone for your baby? I read a lot of reviews saying that the seat wouldn’t fit in people’s cars due to the anti-rebound bar making the base longer than other bases. I called Britax directly to ask about this issue and was told that there is a little bit more “hang” room alloted due to the anti-rebound bar. With the seat installed in my car, it only hangs over by about 2 inches, so it isn’t an issue for me (thank goodness!). The “cowmooflauge” pattern is incredibly cute. I have yet to actually use it, seeing as how our baby is due at the end of Sept. But- I’ve tried it out in the double stroller we’ll be using with my daughter in it and it’s GREAT! Yes, it’s heavy. But wouldn’t you rather have your baby in something that actually feels more stable, and therefore more secure, than something that’s lighter and truly feels like “cheap” plastic? Overall- I could NOT be more satisfied with this car seat!!! And I only gave it 4 stars as opposed to 5 simply because I haven’t actually used it for my baby yet!

THIS IS A GREAT INFANT CAR SEAT. IT’S A GOOD SIZE FOR A MINI VAN AND SEAT ATTACHES TO BASE NICELY. IT IS VERY SAFE. HOWEVER, ONCE YOUR BABY STARTS TO GROW AROUND 17LBS AND WEARING WINTER COATS THE SEAT SEAMS UNCOMFORTABLE/SMALL FOR CHILD. DIFFICULTY STRAPING BABY W/ COAT ON. THE BOTTOM SAFETY STRAP DOES NOT EXPAND IT IS HARD TO BUCKLE AT TIMES.

I love this infant seat. I used the Graco Snugride prior to getting this seat and it never felt installed safely because there was so much “flop”. But with the way Britax added the extra bar to the base, the seat fits much more secure with just a tiny wiggle. And my newborn fits snugly into the seat without additional accessories. I could adjust the straps to her height in seconds without having to rethread the straps. Another great feature is the strap tightenng feature- with the push of a button I can loosen the straps to remove her and then just pull one simple strap to retighten when I put her in the next time. I love love love this seat!

I wish I could have used this car seat! It was very high quality and much nicer than anything else I had seen. It fit perfectly into the Baby Trend Snap n Go stroller and was also compatible with the Bob Stroller I want. However, it is WAY too big for my car. I have a Hyundai Santa Fe and it just wouldn’t fit properly. Very disappointing but a great car seat if it will fit your car!

I was so excited to see Britax making an infant carrier seat. My baby is due in October and I just purchased this. I inserted the foam newborn insert for babies less than 11lbs, so I should be ready to go. I love the way Britax latch works so easily, that is the main reason I purchased this brand. The only thing is that I cannot get the car seat in my Sienna minivan with the level bubble in the correct range. Even though the base adjusts up and down, I need the back portion to go up a significant amount. I am going to contact Britax or go to one of those car seat check places. But it is very sturdy and well made… It looks terrific!
