Britax Parkway SG Booster Car Seat Description

If you’ve been dreaming of a Britax booster seat, you’re in luck. Meet the Britax Parkway SG.

Britax brings the Parkway back with a bang thanks to an anti-submarining SlideGuard, True Side Impact Protection, and sophisticated fabric choices that’ll make your big kid happy.

Standout Features:

  • The SlideGuard feature attaches to the vehicle seat belt to prevent submarining

  • True Side Impact Protection provides ample protection
  • High-back to backless conversation
  • Accommodates kids 40 – 120 lbs and 38″ – 63″. As a high-back booster, the shoulder height limits are 14″ – 21.5″

Benefits for You: The Britax Parkway SG makes keeping your child safe easier than ever with backless to high-back capabilities. The high-back option provides optimum safety with True Side Impact Protection (TSIP) while the backless mode makes hopping from carpool to carpool easy to do. As a backless booster, the Parkway may only be used in vehicle seats that already have a headrest.

Both modes make use of the new Britax SlideGuard, a strap that works with your vehicle’s seat belts to prevent submarining (a dangerous situation in which a child slides beneath the lap belt during a collision, causing internal injuries and death).

The cover is made of an easy-to-clean fabric. The luxurious fabric works well with your car’s interior.

Installation: The Britax Parkway booster car seat installs much like any other belt-positioning booster with one unique addition: simply route the vehicle belts through the color-coded pathways and pass the lap-portion of the belt through the SlideGuard tab.

The SlideGuard tab creates a crotch-strap to protect your child from submarining. Submarining is when a child slips below the lap belt during a collision, causing internal injury and possibly death. The SlideGuard strap works in both backless and high-back mode.

Install the Britax Parkway car booster seat as either high-back or backless. As a high-back booster seat, the Parkway provides True Side Impact Protection. As a backless booster seat, the Parkway becomes an easily transportable booster.

Benefits for Big Kids: Kids ride in the lap of luxury thanks to cushy high density comfort foam. Cup holders provide room for sippy cups while armrests make this car booster seat worthy of lounger status.

As junior grows, adjust the headrest to give them the best fit. The Parkway SG accommodates children up to from 40 – 120 lbs and 38″ – 63″. As a high-back booster, the shoulder height limits are 14″ – 21.5″.

For maximum safety, Britax includes the innovative SlideGuard. The SlideGuard is a strap that works with your vehicle’s seat belts to prevent submarining. In high back mode, the Parkway provides celebrated Britax True Side Impact Protection. An energy-absorbing foam liner absorbs and distributes crash forces.

Safety:

  • True Side Impact Protection

  • Anti-submarining SlideGuard
  • Energy absorbing foam
  • Meets or exceeds FMVSS 213

Comparison: A great alternative to the Britax Parkway is the Sunshine Kids Monterey Booster. The Monterey car booster seat incorporates anti-submarining protection with a unique ramped seat and reinforced seat bottom. The Monterey has the same high height and weight limits as the Parkway (63″ and 120 lbs) and a lower weight minimum (30 lbs).

In contrast to the Parkway, the Monterey adjusts by both height and width. The Monterey has a wider footprint than the Parkway and so may be a tighter squeeze in some cars. The Monterey also uses LATCH for a more secure install.

For a more basic booster car seat, check out the Maxi Cosi Rodi XR. The Rodi XR has a funky look that adds style while side impact protection wings ensure safety. Like the Parkway, the Rodi XR has an easily adjustable headrest and converts to a backless booster for easy transport.

The Rodi XR has a lower height and weight limit than the Parkway (57″ and 100 lbs). For your child’s comfort, the Rodi reclines for truly comfortable cruising.

Did not work in ’03 Tahoe

Unfortunately this seat does not work in our second row of our Tahoe. The seatbelt comes from behind and to the side so once the seatbelt is in place in the booster it doesn’t retract and gets caught like the previous reviewer described. Be wary before buying and get the return insurance. It is a wonderful seat and fits great in my parents’ civic. I’m so sorry this doesn’t fit in my car, we have always had Britax car seats.

We love this booster! We have two < ="" a=""> Huskies and one < ="" a=""> in our minivan, and we have this one (plus a different brand seat that we don’t much like) for my husband’s car. It positions very easily with one hand, and we’ve never had a problem with the seatbelt in any respect. This seat is very comfy and in fact our kids squabble over who gets it when they ride in my husband’s car, which is why we’re buying another one. This seat has worked perfectly for all three of our children, who range in age (and size!) – our son is 3 but has used this seat since 2.5; our daughters are 5 & 8 (our oldest is tall for her age).

    My son loves it

We bought this seat for my 4 y.o. son’s use in grandma’s car (a VW Passat wagon). The seat belt works fine in this car, and my son is able to strap himself in and out easily (incluing the slide guard attachment). When discussing the possibility of graduating to a booster in our car for full-time use, he enthusiastically endorsed the Parkway as comfortable and easy to use.

    shoulder belt does not retract

I really wanted this seat to work. I tried to use it in the third row of my T&C minivan and when my son leaned forward, the shoulder belt did not retract at all. It got all twisted in the slot. We tried this over and over and over at various head restraint heights and never had success. The belt positioner comes out behind the seat instead of toward the side like on the Frontier or the Recaro. It would probably work in a middle seat, but be warned that if your belt is coming from behind and to the side, it probably won’t work. We ended up with the Recaro, which I tested in every available seat in our van and the belt retracted fine in all cases.
